BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:25 P.M.) – The Lebanese General Security has clarified in a recent statement that all surviving terrorists forces who were defeated in Arsal were evacuated to Syria by land and that not one terrorist was transported to Turkey by plane.
The General Security issued the statement into response to allegations put forth by an apparently well-known political analyst in a popular news daily (the names of whom and which respectively were not mentioned in the statement).
The claim made by the unnamed journalist was that some terrorists from Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS; formerly Jahbat al-Nusra, the Syrian-branch of Al-Qaeda) and Ahel al-Sham who had surrendered to Lebanese forces Arsal, including top HTS leader Abu Malek al-Talli, were evacuated to Turkey by plane via Beirut’s Rafic Hariri international airport.
In its statement, the Lebanese General Security clarified that it “categorically denies this information and confirms that all terrorists, including Abu Malek al-Talli, had traveled to Syria by land. None of them left Lebanon through Beirut airport.”
