The Armenian Army launched a counter-assault against the the Azeri forces in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region on Saturday morning after the recent influx of violence between the two rival nations.
According to the Armenian Defense Ministry, the Armenian Army shot down an MI-24 attack helicopter during the first hours of the battle.
The Armenian Army would follow this preliminary assault with another attack that downed another Azeri MI-24 chopper and 2 drones in Karabakh.
Following this assault, the Azeri forces launched their own counter-attack; however, they were repelled by the Armenian Army after losing 3 tanks and 12 soldiers.
The Azeri Defense Ministry initially denied these losses, but later retracted these comments and declared their losses.
“Twelve Azeri servicemen were killed in action and a helicopter was shot down by Armenian forces.”
He added that the Azeri forces captured 2 hilltops from the Armenian Army before the dissipation of violence on Saturday evening.
Armenian sources have denied losing any ground to the Azeri forces.
