(ARA News) The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Sunday captured a new district in the city of Raqqa after heavy clashes with Islamic State’s (IS) jihadists, military sources reported.

Supported by the US-led coalition’s air cover, the SDF troops took control of the al-Baitara district in Raqqa.

“Subsequent to heavy clashes with IS terrorists, the SDF liberated the Baitara district on Sunday,” SDF officer Habun Osman told ARA News.

“Dozens of IS militants were killed and injured in the clashes ,” the source said.

The Syrian Democratic Forces also destroyed two IS vehicles during the clashes in al-Baitara.

In the meantime, clashes continued between the SDF and IS in the neighbourhoods of Hatin and Qadisiya in western Raqqa.

Al-Baitara is the fifth district to be liberated since the launch of the battle for Raqqa 10 days ago, after the US-backed SDF troops captured the districts of al-Mishlab, al-Sabahiya, al-Romaniya, and Sinaa.

The SDF leadership on Saturday confirmed the death of 312 IS militants since the Raqqa city operation was launched on 6 June.

Perhaps if ISIS foot soldiers had not felt betrayed by the French Foreign Policy that de facto quietly and treacherously supported ISIS in the earlier years of the war in Syria in the hope that Damascus would see the Black Flag flying there or that of Al Nusra and the thought that a deal could be done with ISIS etc to loot Syria AGAIN.

Today France has paid the price in civilian blood and will continue to pay the price for playing with terrorist gangs and then dumping them and supporting another terror gang. The terror gangs of the day are now the US/NATO gang of thugs trained in Jordan and of course the Kurds. Both of those gangs will fail I am sure.
