New York Giants rookie receiver Odell Beckham, whose spectacular leaping one-handed sideline catch was among the NFL’s most spectacular plays ever, has been named to the Pro Bowl.
Beckham, snubbed when the original list for the all-star matchup was announced, was named as an injury replacement for Detroit’s Calvin Johnson.
“It is definitely awesome,” Beckham said. “It is something that means a lot to me and I am definitely going to cherish the moment. I’m very excited to be going to the Pro Bowl.”
Beckham is the first Giants rookie since tight end Jeremy Shockey in 2002 to reach the Pro Bowl, and the team’s first debutante receiver ever.
