The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Al-Ba’ath Brigades (Liwaa Al-Ba’ath) – carried out a heavy assault on the militants from the Islamic Front (Jabhat Al-Islamiyya) at the Khan Touman Quarter of Aleppo City, destroying 4 pick-up trucks mounted with doshkas and killing 9 enemy combatants before advancing westward. Fighting has recently picked-up in the Khan Touman Quarter after almost 2 months of minor skirmishes.

Continuing their counter-offensive in Al-Bureijj, the Islamic Front has attacked the eastern sector of the village of Al-Manaasher, attempting to retake this area under partial SAA control. According to a military source, the Islamic Front militants were unable to infiltrate past SAA frontlines and as a result, withdrew west.

Also in the Al-Bureijj area, contingents from the Islamic Front and the Syrian Arab Army engaged one another in an armed confrontation at the village of Al-Maysaat. A military source would add that both sides sustained a number of casualties during the firefights – no further details were provided.

Perhaps the most violent clashes were reported at the Bayyaanoun Quarter of Aleppo City, where soldiers from the SAA, NDF, and Hezbollah (Party of God) attacked a militant hideout belonging to Harakat ‘Ahrar Al-Sham (Liberators of the Levant Movement), killing a reported 11 militants and capturing another 3 enemy combatants. Firefighters were also reported from the northeastern part of the Bayyaanoun Quarter, as the SAA continued their offensive to capture this integral area.

Al-Masdar News also received reports of clashes between the Syrian Army and members of the Islamic Front in the following areas: Hareetaan Highway, Hayyan, Daar Sheihaan, Al-Khalidiyyah, Handarat Camp, Bani Za’id, Al-‘Amariyya, Sheikh Sa’eed, Jabboul Lake, Al-Bureijj, Al-Jandoul Roundabout, Al-Castillo Roundabout, Nayrab Military Airport, and Kuweris Military Airport.
