The Al-Nusra Front (Jabhat Al-Nusra) has launched another offensive in the Al-Quneitra Governorate, targeting the areas of Tal Karoum, Tal Bazaaq, and Tal Sha’ar. According to Al-Nusra Front social media activists, the latter has captured Tal Karoum; however, after further review, it is highly unlikely and a premature announcement because there are still firefights reported from this area.
Elsewhere, the Al-Nusra Front is attempting to cutoff the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) main supply route into the Al-Quneitra Governorate via the imperative road leading from Khan Al-Sheih in the West Ghouta of the Rif Dimashq Governorate. Thus far, the SAA – backed by the National Defense Forces – have withstood the fierce attack by the Al-Nusra Front, despite the constant barrage of rockets and artillery shells fired by the latter.
According to a military source in Al-Quneitra, the militants from the Al-Nusra Front have suffered heavy casualties, including 3 field commanders identified as “Mohammad Moussa Al-Khalid,” ‘Abdel-Saleem Al-Jaloush,” and “Abu Hamza Al-Rafeed.” Many more Al-Nusra Front fighters were wounded in the battle – they were pictured by reconnaissance aircrafts heading towards the Israeli border with Syria.
