DAMASCUS, SYRIA (01:00 PM) – The situation for Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), the Al-Qaeda affilated terrorist group formerly known as the Al-Nusra Front, seems more dire than ever, now that the Syrian Arab Army has tightened the noose around the central town of Magher al-Meir even more after a successful offensive on Saturday.

The Syrian army overran the HTS positions completely on the hill of Tall Zaiyat, from which they launched successful attacks that captured Al-Najjar and the hill range of Zaher Aswad as well in the course of the day.

This puts the Syrian armed forces within a range of no more than 500 meters from the town of Magher Al-Meir on the eastern side. It is expected that the town will be liberated from Al-Qaeda control in the course of Sunday.

Video footage has surfaced displaying the advance of Syrian forces on the Tall Zaiyat hill early on Saturday.
