DAMASCUS, SYRIA (2:05 P.M.) – The Turkish-backed factions managed to score major advances in the Kurdish region of Afrin, inching closer to the provincial capital.

Several towns located between Afrin city and Jandaris including Kafr Batrah, Ain Dara, Kobla, Talaf and many more have fallen to the FSA-affiliated militants, thus almost reaching the outskirts of Afrin city.

With a progress at this rate, the city of Afrin will probably be entirely encircled in a period of one week or so, with a safe corridor for civilians to be mostly available.

Dubbed Operation Olive Branch, Turkey initiated a wide-scale military campaign against the Kurdish militia in January 2018, whereby it captured roughly 800 square km of the entire region.

The problem is when Turks cut off Afrin from Syria. They can starve Afrin. Turks Erdolf is not Assad who lets food pass.

If these reports are true, IF, then the YPG have completely collapsed and failed to mount a defense, in very favorable terrain perfectly suited for them, and fled the field. Remember the fake news about re-inforcements from SDF to cover the evacuation of the entire population of Jandeeris ? If the TSK/FSAK take the imperative massif above al-Jamilah (450 m) then Afrin city will be at their mercy. Expect mass population transfers to Sheikh Maqsood in Aleppo, Manbij, or even east of the Euphrates in the coming weeks.
