BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:30 P.M.) – Aerial footage released on Friday, captured an airstrike from the United States military that dropped the largest non-nuclear bomb ever used, nicknamed the ‘mother of all bombs,’ on a militant tunnel system in the Achin district of Nangarhar province, close to the border with Pakistan on Thursday.
The over 21,000 lb (10-tonne) GBU-43 bomb, or ‘MOAB’, was dropped by a MC-130 aircraft at around 19:00 local time (14:30 GMT).
The strike reportedly killed 36 suspected militants aligned with the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) in the mountainous region.
