BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:45 P.M.) – Some 50 Muslim worshipers were reportedly injured by Israeli forces in Eastern Jerusalem, Thursday, during the ongoing protest against the recent installment of metal detectors at the gates of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Three protesters were reported to have sustained serious injuries, with one requiring surgery.

The demonstration continues following a call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ party, Fatah, for a ‘Day of Rage’ following the increase in security in the area of the Al-Aqsa mosque, which includes security cameras and metal detectors, as a result of a shoot-out last Friday that left two Israeli police officers and three Palestinians dead.
