DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:30 P.M.) – Islamic State commanders have gone all-in to capture the eastern city of Deir Ezzor, throwing waves of adolescent militants at the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) across several points.

According to a military source close to Al-Masdar News, clashes have continued non-stop across Deir Ezzor for over 20 hours and are yet to calm down. Despite tremendous pressure and unprecedented skirmishes, the SAA has been able repel all ISIS attacks on Syriatel hill, Sannouf hill, Barouk hill and the Panorama roundabout.

Thus far, at least 50 ISIS militants have been killed and approximately 10 injured. Amid the failed attacks, six pickup truck fitted with 23mm guns were destroyed while airstrikes eliminated an artillery gun and two mortar positions.

However, intelligence reports indicate that ISIS is preparing to intensify its offensive on the government-held Panorama roundabout after they managed to capture the adjacent Panorama Farms and Panorama School earlier this week.

With the SAA meanwhile gaining ground against the Islamic State in Homs, Hama and Aleppo, ISIS hopes to wrestle control of Deir Ezzor city with overwhelming manpower.

If they succeed in doing so, the caliphate will not only be gifted a major symbolic and military victory but also free up over ten thousand fighters for frontlines elsewhere.

In addition, the fall of Deir Ezzor would discourage SAA contingents in central Syria from pushing eastwards through the sparsely populated desert en route to Deir Ezzor.

Whatever it takes to prevent the 100,000 or so courageous soldiers and civilians in SAA controlled Deir Ezzor being massacred by the US,NATO,Saudi, Gulf States Coalition of Terror must be done. Even if tactical nuclear nukes are used in my opinion.

One should ask how come ISIS seems to have unlimited supply of human fodder to sacrifice on the frontline to do the US bidding. Well the answer is quite simple. Just read US news of a couple of days ago headlining that hundreds of US muslims are lining up to and heading to Syria to join ISIS. Well then, t it so happens that the US seens helpless to stop this flow of terrorists from the US to Syria. Yet the US has the most guarded and secure airports in the world with an unprecedented level of scrutiny on any… Read more »

The best form of defense is attack. The Syrian Arab Army should pull itself together and pass immediately on the offensive with massive airpower backing to liberate the Panorama Farms and school. This tactic was used by the Russians in 1942 against the NAZI’s who had arrived at just 2 miles from Moscow and were gearig for a fonal assault on the Russian capital. But instead of waiting for the NAZI assault, Stalin ordered a nassive surprise counter offensive. The Gemans did not expect such a move and were completely shocked to see the Soviets attack them on the whole… Read more »

No way there is ten thousand Isis fighter’s around deir azzor if there was surely they would have taken that city ,I do believe there has been a couple of thousand Isis fighter’s killed since the start of the fighting in deir azzor, nearly three years of fighting I still don’t think they will take it now maybe I will be wrong , I don’t think Isis has a plan now, there on the back foot plus they have lost a lot of experience in man power, lost a h**l of a lot of fighter’s in the last six months and after… Read more »

They were still estimated as a 18k man-power force in Syria at the moment they received a 4-5k reinforcement from Iraq to re-take Palmyra.
IMHO, number is very likely to have shrank pretty under this.
