The Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet (PF) will receive more than 70 ships by 2027, the commander of the Pacific Fleet Admiral Sergei Avakyants said on Sunday.

“Until 2027, the total number of the newest warships and vessels that will replenish the Pacific Fleet will exceed 70 units,” Avakyants said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper, published on the website of the newspaper on Monday.

He recalled that the total number of 20380 series corvettes is planned to increaseto eight, and that in 2019 a contract will be signed for the construction of six small missile ships of Project 22800 for the Pacific Fleet.

“Also, the second small marine tanker with a displacement of more than 3,000 tons was recently laid for us at the plant, which is gradually equipped with modern floating equipment and sub-units of naval rescuers,” the commander added.

In the near future, servicemen of the Pacific Fleet will start developing diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3. Also, according to the commander, it is planned to modernize and re-equip the 949A nuclear missile cruisers.
