BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:40 A.M.) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the Israel-Guatemala relationship in an address alongside Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales, during the opening ceremony of the Guatemalan embassy after its relocation from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on Wednesday.

“You’re always among the first,” said Netanyahu referring to Guatemala being one of the first countries to recognise the creation of Israel as a sovereign state in the UN.

“We remember our friends and Guatemala is our friend,” he added.

Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales on his part referred to Guatemala being the second country to relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem following the US’s lead, saying “Your children and future generations will remember that friendly countries made brave decisions in favour of Israel.”

“We are reaffirming our ties of friendship and brotherhood to the prosperous Israeli people,” he concluded.

Guatemala? A country that isn’t known to most, except perhaps for two reasons: Staggeringly high corruption, and a murder every 90 minutes.

Good, now we can return the gang members that enter illegally into the US to Jerusalem. They will fit right in.
