BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:00 P.M.) – Another Hezbollah fighter has been killed in eastern Syria this year after coming under attack from the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) near the Iraqi border.
According to Hezbollah’s media activists, Mohammad Masarah was reported killed-in-action (KIA) after his unit came under attack near the border city of Albukamal in eastern Deir Ezzor.
No further details have been released.
Hezbollah officially joined the Syrian conflict in April 2013, when their troops helped retake the key border city of Al-Qusayr.
The Lebanese group would ultimately play an imperative role in retaking the entire border region after three major offensives in the Qalamoun Mountain region.
