The Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard is rolling through the Latakia Governorate’s northern countryside, capturing several sites that were once under the control of the Islamist rebels from Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in Jabal Al-Turkmen (Turkmen Mountains) and Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountians).

On Sunday afternoon, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade – in close coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade), the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Muquwama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – imposed full control over the villages of Al-Sukariyah, Al-Qabaquliyah, and Beit ‘Ablaq in Jabal Al-Turkmen after a violent battle with Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Coastal Brigade”.

In addition to their success in Jabal Al-Turkmen, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade and their allies added to their buffer-zone in Jabal Al-Akrad by capturing the villages of Ras Al-Ghazal and Ras Al-Kabir from the Islamist rebels of Jabhat al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army.

With these recent gains, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade and their allies are in great position to strike the Free Syrian Army stronghold of Al-Rabi’yah in Jabal Al-Turkmen from two different axes (northern and southern flanks).

If they strike from the 2 axes a large portion of what the extremists control in latakia would be under siege.
