AEOI deputy head and spokesman has announced that the construction of two joint nuclear power plants with Russia will get launched next week.

Deputy Head and Spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Behrouz Kamalvandi said technical measures are ongoing along with political and economic negotiations; “certain steps were taken which have broght about good conditions with regard to decreasing the number of centrifuges,” he added.

Kamalvandi evaluated the taken measures for exchange of enriched products with yellowcake as satisfactory underlining “we have already received the yellowcake though the other side is required to implement certain measures.”

AEOI deputy head referred to the earlier closure of Iran’s nuclear case as one of these measure and said “fortunately, the action has been taken and with regard to the exchange process, some technical issues are still remaining like identification of the contract for a portion of waste materials.”

Referring to the details of the exchange process, the official stated “these decisions have been finalized in a joint checklist and everything will become clarified in a matter of a few days.”

He further deemed the trend on the execution of the actions as positive asserting that all the tasks will be accomplished by the next week.

AEOI spokesman emphasized that Iran will take up execution of the actions related to Arak reactor; “the presence of Chinese does not mean that China is going to undertake the redesigning procedures; rather the task will be carried out by Iranian engineers with Chinese as supervisors.”

Kamalvandi deemed the aim of the cooperation as transfer of technology and knowledge synergy adding “the presence of a country like China will allow us to announce that the project has been done in accordance with international certificates.”

Referring to the remarks of AEOI’s Head Ali Akbar Salehi on expansion of the organization’s activities, the official asserted “several meetings have been conducted with European delegations over the past few months and the agreements will become operational in the form of contracts.”

Kamalvandi highlighted the collaborations in the field of fuel production and construction of a safety center adding “the space in the country’s nuclear industry has become wider and frequent meetings are evidences of a broader context of cross-border communications in the future.”

At the end of his remarks, Kamalvandi noted that the construction of two joint power plants with Russia will begin next week.
