At least 20 members of the Libyan National Army (LNA) have lost their lives over the past two days as they engaged in clashes with militants in the port city of Benghazi, an informed source told PressTV.

The same unnamed hospital source also claimed a further 40 LNA troops were wounded in the clashes.

LNA spokesman, Fadel al-Hassi, claimed that at least seven militants were killed in Benghazi’s Guwarsha district on Wednesday.

The LNA is loyal to the country’s eastern government based in Tobruk, rather than Libya’s capital of Tripoli in the west.

Rival government’s in Tripoli and eastern Libya have sought for control since 2014, whilst also fighting Islamist insurgencies.

It’s very likely the daeshbags had even more losses : there is a US LHD/LHA doing air strikes with its Harriers and armed drones hovering :

Now I’m not sure they also do strikes for LNA but as any Daesh point is a target, we can assume the Bengazi area isn’t spared from strikes.

A video of an Emirati Air Tractor AT-802U bombing Daesh in Libya https://twitter.com/Arn_Del/status/799639415580749824 What? Air-Tractor? These are ugly cropdusters, aren’t they? Yes but… not only : http://www.janes.com/images/assets/157/44157/1567527_-_main.jpg http://www.802u.com/sites/default/files/AT-802U_Brochure_07_10.pdf It can carry up to 3629kg ordnance or assume a 10 hours loitering with more than 1 ton payload. Not my preferred COIN aircraft, thus, these babies are MUCH cheaper than armed drones, more heavily armed than choppers and with a long loitering time which is necessary to provide serious air support to ground troops and this, with a ridiculous hourly cost : AT-802U cost is 500$/hour. To give an idea, hourly… Read more »
