Scores of rebel fighters were killed and wounded in a failed attack on Syrian Amy’s positions in Harasta suburb, located to the northeast of the capital.
Rebels fighting for the Saudi-backed Jaish al-Islam launched their offensive at 5 a.m., making slight advance and capturing a mosque and five buildings. Shortly after that, the government forces regrouped and reclaimed all lost territories.
According to a military source, the attack was made through a network of tunnels near Army Armored Vehicle Base and Al Ajami neighborhood.
Pro-rebel media accounts admitted that at least 12 rebels were killed, scores others injured in the failed offensive.
As for the government forces, the military source stated that 3 soldiers were killed, 5 others injured including officers.
