One female Russian medical worker has been killed, two others wounded as mortar shells fired by rebel fighters hit their mobile hospital in the government-held parts of the Aleppo.
The hospital was set up by the Russian military to provide medical care for civilians who have recently fled the battles in the eastern parts as government forces launch fierce military operation to retake the eastern districts.
A number of local residents who were receiving medical treatment at the hospital were also injured in the attack.
The targeted hospital was established in Al-Furqan neighborhood, located some 2 km from the frontline to the east where militants are holed up in Bustan Al-Qasr district.
Russian Defence ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov confirmed the incident, accusing the United States, Britain and France of tipping off the rebels about the hospital’s location.
“The blood of our soldiers is on the hands of those who ordered this murder. Those who created, nurtured and armed these beasts in human form and named them the ‘opposition’,” he said.
