DAMASCUS, SYRIA (6:30 P.M.) – Impressive footage has emerged from central Homs showing the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) throwing all its military capabilities into expelling the Islamic State from villages and oil fields in the region.
In what represents the initial step before an eastern push towards Deir Ezzor, the SAA has deployed its best assault troops, the renown Tiger Forces, along with their state-of-the-art weaponry and armored vehicles in a series of pincers over the past month.
ANNA News Agency, a Russian channel with frontline journalists embedded with the SAA, released a lengthy video of the elite government troops, under the command of Suheil Al-Hassan, pushing through liberated areas after battles with ISIS insurgents:
Earlier today, the SAA liquidated one of two ISIS pockets in central Syria. With only the eastern Hama enclave left, the long-awaited liberation of Deir Ezzor is anticipated to happen within a couple months, marking the end of ISIS’ rule in eastern Syria.
