BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 A.M.) – Over 10,000 people took to the streets in southern Damascus, Friday, to demand the rebels reconcile with the government in the towns of Babila, Yalda, and Beit Sahm.
According to a pro-opposition page, the 10,000 people came from the aforementioned towards and chanted “no to terrorism; yes to reconciliation.”
Video footage of the demonstration was released by the Babila Now Facebook channel on Friday – please see below:
This large demonstration comes just days after Jaysh Al-Islam and their Free Syrian Army (FSA) associates disrupted the reconciliation process in southern Damascus, threatening violence against anyone who signs the reconciliation document with the government.
Many of the people now living in these southern Damascus towns are former rebels that are seeking to reconcile with the government and return to their civilian life.
